2007 J.E.E. Eco-Calendar is now on sale

• "Okage-sama de," this year J.E.E. marks the 20th anniversary of its foundation. This is our 16th annual eco-calendar. Over its long historical development, Japanese society has lived in close harmony with nature, and the Japanese language contains many guiding expressions that reflect this.

• The “kokoro nagomu" illustrations in this calendar are the original “tewaza" creations of our good friend High Moon.

• We hope that this calendar can be used as environmental teaching material. Since it is fully bilingual, in Japanese and English, it can also be used for language study.

• Unlike ordinary calendars, which show only national holidays, this “kikubari" calendar also features the dates of important environmental events.

• The phases of the moon are shown with these symbols: Please use them for reference when you want to enjoy “mederu" stargazing.

• You can mark your recycling collection days, community clean-up dates, volunteer activities or meetings on this calendar, “osusowake." We have provided a space in the April page for you to jot a reminder note for Earth Day activities.

• Once again, we have taken the printing process into consideration, “hodo-hodo-ni." This year's calendar was printed using natural energy generated by wind power on recycled paper (70% post-consumer), with soy ink.

• If you'd like to be more eco-active, but don't know where to begin, we hope that this calendar provides some “otentou-sama" inspiration and ideas to put into action.

• We sincerely hope that world peace can be achieved in 2007, through “tsumugu" of thought and actions.

• Original artwork by Dr. Hiroshi Takatsuki (the environmental cartoonist “High Moon," now professor at Ishikawa Prefectural University's Institute of Bio-resources Engineering.)
